2. Online Resources for Spa and Bodyworkers
There is a maze of resources online for therapists,
spa service providers and spa managers. The challenge is to find them
and then to discern who will provide a value. We are attempting to assemble
those resources, offer them to you and request that you provide us with
those links, you have found particularly valuable in your practice. You
can find resource links at:
www.spa-college/resource.html and
at www.spa-pros/spresources.html
Please
send your link suggestions to links@spa-college.com.
The first Spa-College Spa Treatment Manual is being proof-read and
should soon be ready for distribution. While it will not substitute the
hands-on training that Spa College offers, it will be a great resource
and reference book for spa service providers, massage therapists and
spa managers who want to enhance their service menu and step up to the
challenge of satisfying discerning clientele. The manual will be available
as ebook from the Spa College and other websites and will cover such
topics such as treatment protocols, ingredients and resources, equipment
lists, designing a treatment, client consultation and sales and marketing.
The
Essential Spa Treatment Manual will be followed by and advanced Manual.
Watch for release memos in the upcoming newsletters.

5. Education a Core Issue in Spas
EXPERTS AGREE ON NEED FOR EDUCATION IN SPA INDUSTRY
Finding continuing education opportunities and training poses challenges
for spa services providers and spa managers.
You have probably heard that during a recent global summit of leading
industry experts in the spa industry emerging issues included education
of spa staff and managers.
A shortage of high-quality, trained labor – including spa managers
and directors, aestheticians, and therapists – is the major challenge
facing the global spa industry today, according to a survey of more than
160 world spa and wellness industry leaders who attended the first-ever
Global Spa Summit earlier this week in New York.
We have linked a survey that we ask you to fill out. Our goal is not
only to fine-tune our own content but inspire other educational providers
to attend to the demand. We will publish the results in the next newsletter.
As a little perk to those who participate, we have a have a very nice
spa gift from Sabai Spa.

8. Upcoming 100 Hour Massage Certification Workshop
Touching From the Heart
with Nicolay Kreidler, LMT, RYT
August 25 - September 7, 2007
This 100 hour massage intensive is a foundational course that provides
complete training in itself but also offers a wonderful foundation to
begin the study of massage therapy or if you are a practitioner to re-ignite
your passion for bodywork.
In the course of 2 weeks students receive 100 hours of supervised training,
and a massage routine is taught, one that is an arrangement of the most
effective moves from modalities such as Swedish Massage, Jin Shin Do
Acupressure, Lomi Lomi, Reiki, Reflexology, Healing Touch, Trager and
many more combined into a graceful flow.
Supported by a process of self-inquiry and breathwork, the work is naturally
anchored in the Heart and informed by presence. This workshop is suited
for anyone who is interested in massage therapy, whether as a career,
as a life-skill or simply to share with friends, family and community.
Accomplished and recently trained bodyworkers have experienced this workshop
as an excellent opportunity to revitalize and jumpstart their practice.
At the end of the 2-Week intensive you will be able to give a professional
massage incorporating a variety of techniques using the Touching from
the Heart sequence.
The intentional setting provides a focused experience and a safe learning
environment. Yoga and movement are integral part of the workshop for
those who wish to participate. Healthy meals, a relaxed atmosphere and
time for personal integration and sharing, set the tone for an exceptionally
rewarding experience.
Unique Introductions during the Touching from the Heart intensive:
• Hot Stone Massage
• Hawaiian Lomilomi
The tuition fee includes an extensive practical manual for each participant.
