Workshops with Wendi White

We are happy to include Wendi White into the fold of Spa College faculty. She offers a very specialized modality that can enrich and enhance your practice.

"FibroMassage-Managing Fibromyalgia with Massage Therapy".

A 12 hour course for massage therapists and bodyworkers who want to understand the condition and use the proven massage technique that will help relieve the pain for their clients. This technique is like no other and is the only one created by a massage therapist with Fibromyalgia that has been using this protocol for 9 years. This is THE course to learn the difference between tender points and trigger points and techniques to help alleviate the symptoms of FM for your clients.

"Fibrocise-Managing Fibromyalgia with Exercise".

A routine for exercise instructors, fitness trainers or physical therapists to learn about FM and why holding stretches for no longer than 10 seconds is so important for people with FM. Teach a routine created just for people with Fibromyalgia.

Ayurvedic Healing through Earth Elements

Originating in India, the ancient science of Ayurveda has used warm stones and crystal therapy for beautifying the face and healing the body for more than 5,000 years. Of the many beautiful art forms of Ayurvedic massage, snehana or oleation, is one of the most nurturing, vata-pacifying techniques, where the body is treated internally or externally (or both) with herbal, warm oils. Snehana can also refer to the word “love.” I can still hear the words of Dr. Lad while I was a student in his class in 1997: “Love is oily.” He said this with reverence and a twinkle in his eye.

Eco-Centric Spa Treatment Design

While at least some spa treatments (wraps, scrubs and masks to name the basic protocols) are usually found in a section on the majority of spa menus, they tend to lead a rather dormant life overshadowed by their more commonly requested relatives massages and facials. More often than not they decorate menus with adventurous names while flirting exotic ingredients.

Considering the expensive products retained to perform these services and the equipment held available it is a pity that spa treatments are not given the place they deserve and could conquer.

Marketing: Freebies - A dead giveaway

We are fascinated by “free” and a whole industry exists around “free” things from subscriptions, trials, gifts, even free money. It has become a budget item, a line item in the tax return. Yet nothing like these gifts to leave a feeling of disappointment and a taste of deception once redeemed.

Massage Therapist Management

In the quest for quality and continuity within the guest experience, spas are looking for ways to deliver a sequence of events that looks and feels consistent to their clients.

Spa owners or managers therefore think it is important to try to control the way the therapists perform their work and lay down guidelines of how the treatment is done. After all, management then becomes a simple task of making sure that everyone follows the procedures properly.
