You are so right about MT's having a hard time making ends meet with just doing massage. I am 59 years old and have been doing massage nearly 20 years now. I can no longer do 6-8 hours of deep tissue work a day. I am down to 12-14 massages a week, working Tues, Wed and Thurs. The other days I devote to my nutrition business and taking care of myself.
My nutrition business mostly consists of a whole food nutrition support system called Juice Plus+, which is 17 fruits, veggies and grains in capsules. One of the big things that I really love about JP+ and NSA is the Children's Research foundation. So for the past 12 years, I have been self employed. For about a year I did a lot of Spa work....at L'Auberge here in Del Mar and at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club in La Jolla. Then in Nov. of 1996 I bought the clientele of a fellow HHP who got married and moved to Boston. That venture landed me in a Chiropractors office, which I really enjoyed. I was there 7 years. For the past 4+ years I have been at the Alternative Health Center of San Diego with a group of wonderful healers. We recently expanded our space and had an open house.
